A letter from Alan Hobson [1977–1983]
Regarding football (and rugby), they are played in Sweden from April to the end of October and so the seasons here are coming to an end. In the winter it is ice hockey and a game called bandy which is played outside despite the fact that the temperature might be -20º. (Bandy supporters are rather special and take a thermos flask to the matches with a rather special drink inside!)
For some reason, football players don’t seem to think you can play in the winter over here, just golf I guess!
