Memorial service 1949

Among the memorabilia kindly given to us by Jerry Fearnley [Heath 1962–1970] is this photograph of the Memorial Service held on as part of the Founder’s Day Commemoration that year which was followed by the dedication of the memorial gates.

The preacher was Canon B.E. Taylor [Heath 1889–1898] who won a Hastings Exhibition to The Queen’s College, Oxford; at the time of the Memorial Service he was vicar of Holy Trinity, Walton Breck, Liverpool.

There is a report on this event on pages 4–5 of The Heathen 1949 2(3).
