2021 Annual Reunion Dinner

The Association held its 74th Annual Reunion Dinner at Heath RUFC, West Vale, on Friday, .

There were 30 members present for the Annual Dinner preceded by a smaller number at the AGM. The latter’s business was quickly undertaken with surprisingly all the Officers being re-elected along with the Committee.

It was good to see most of the usual faces present especially John Bunch who had travelled up from the South Coast and Andrew Connell down from Appleby. New member Nigel Fairhurst (1977–82) also made his debut. Unfortunately, David Harrison, Head Coach at Heath RUFC, was unable to attend due to a last-minute change in circumstances and Taff Ellis got stuck in traffic on the M25!!

Another pleasant meal was enjoyed and the usual stand-up sit-down bingo resulted in a win for Duncan Turner, our ageless Treasurer for longer than anyone present could remember. Various raffle prices were again supplied by Messrs. Chatta and Hamer. Our thanks go to both of them for their continued support. The remainder of the evening passed by with good natured conversation taking place around the four tables. Could this actually be a model for future Dinners? Do we actually need a Speaker?

Those attending (prior to late cry-offs) were: Jim Farrell, Dave Harrison, Michael Hinchcliffe, Rob Sumner, Steve Blackburn, Mick Hynes, Alan Ellis, Jon Hamer, Nigel Fairhurst, Grayham Smith, John Bunch, Mike Bingham, Alan Parker, Duncan Turner, John Robertshaw, Martin Vernon, Martin Vernon Guest, Andrew Connell, Roger Morley, John Greenwood, John Hudson, John Hoggard, John Davey, Chris Gostridge, Roger Wheeldon, Alan Hobson, Tim Stringer, Steve Bull, Mark Baxendale, Chris Tindall, Dennis O‘Callaghan, Phil Marrion, Mike Orlic, Ollie Schofield, John Russell.
