Roger Knowles: [Heath 1939–1947]

Roger Knowles, who has died aged 80, was at Heath in the 1940s. He emigrated to Canada in 1957, where he has been a Professor of microbiology. We extend our sympathy to his family and friends.

Major Keith McDonald: –2012 [Heath 1939–1946]

Keith McDonald, who died last year aged 83, had a distinguished record of public service. He had links for well over half a century with the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, Halifax RUFC, the Halifax Conservative Association, was Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire and a magistrate. Keith was also Chairman of the school governors from 1974–82, when he always had the best interests of the school at heart. The Courier headline read, T.A.Major was devoted to the Dukes, to sport and to the Calderdale community, a good summing up of his character and achievements.
