Heath Grammar School Archive Event: Saturday,

Crossley Heath School offered a second Heath Grammar School Archive Event from 10.30 am to 1 pm on Saturday, .

It was another success with over 50 people in attendance. The Head, Dean Jones, stayed for the whole event and spoke well, along with members of Heath RUFC. The Heath delegates were President John Hall and former captain Chris Moore.

As promised Dr Favour made an appearance alongside the Papa Johns Community Cup which Heath RUFC won recently at Twickenham.

Committee members present were Andy Hoyle who helped set up early with me (and Marie Rose), Duncan Turner, John Hudson and Rob Sumner.

We will look to do another event in 3–5 years time

Jon Hamer, Vice Chairman [1977–1984]

The report in the Crossley Heath School Newsletter for July 2024 says:

The Heath Archives event took place in the School's Main Hall, once again showcasing the wonderfully rich heritage our school is based on, ranging from artifacts such as the original 16th century seal matrix and the acknowledgment of illustrious alumni, to photographs and other memorabilia, all of which stimulated fascinating conversations and reminiscences.

The Papa Johns Community Cup was also proudly on display, brought in on behalf of the winners, Heath RUFC, by Chris Moore and John Hall (President). Mr Jon Hamer, Vice Chairman & Secretary of the Heath Old Boys Association, whose help on the day and with the promoting of the event has been invaluable, gave an introductory welcome speech, thanking all concerned for hosting and preparing the event.

Headmaster Mr Dean Jones also warmly welcomed those attending, encouraging a continuing involvement with both the Heath Old Boys Association and Heath RUFC, emphasising the underlying shared heritage and values of striving for excellence, community engagement and being inspirational examples for our students.

Mrs Marie-Rose Fielding, Mrs Debbie Gallimore, Mrs Gaynor Fisher, Miss Louisa Batley, Head Girl Ria Tandon and Mr Mike Bunn and the site team of Crossley Heath, along with John Hudson, the archivist of the Heath Old Boys Association, all played their part in making this a successful and enjoyable event.
