Derek Carlin: –1992 [Heath 1935–1943]

Derek Carlin was, with his twin brother, Kenneth, born on ; he died after his 70th birthday in 1992.

He served in the Royal Armoured Corps during the war and joined William Aske & Co as an office boy, becoming managing director in 1963. He was a member of Institute of British Foundrymen, Oil and Colour Chemists Association and associate fellow of the Institute of Petroleum.

He married Jean at St Augustine’s Church in 1956. His hobbies included photography, painting and rock climbing. He was a former Assistant Commissioner of Halifax Boy Scouts Association.

He was a member of the Halifax Liberal Association standing in the 1966 General Election as a candidate for the Halifax constituency.

In 1971 he was elected chairman of Halifax Licensed Victuallers’ Association in spite of having no connection with the trade.
